Airport baggage claim: Speaking Tasks 3 and 4

Use one detailed airport picture to practise describing a scene and making evidence-based predictions.

Travellers collecting unusual luggage from an airport baggage carousel

SPEAKING TASK 3

Describe the scene

Describe the busy baggage claim. Mention the people, their actions, the unusual luggage, and the overall atmosphere.

A clear structure

Start with the airport setting. Move from the children in the foreground to the travellers on the left and right, then mention the teddy bear, flamingo bag, guitar case, and pet carrier.

Practise Task 3

SPEAKING TASK 4

Predict what happens next

Make two to four predictions about the baggage claim and explain the visual evidence behind each one.

Evidence you can use

The man is reaching for a blue suitcase, the woman is checking a tag, the boy is pointing at the teddy bear, and a purple suitcase is lying beside the carousel.

Practise Task 4

Describe visible evidence

Say what people are doing before guessing why they are doing it.

Organize by location

Use foreground, left, right, centre, and background to keep your answer easy to follow.

Use specific vocabulary

Carousel, baggage tag, pet carrier, belongings, and luggage cart make the answer precise.
